Mighty Mountain Mine Four-Level Train Set Won a Gold Toy Award in 2017
On February 1, 2017, in Nuremberg, Germany, the winners of the ToyAward were announced at the 68th Nuremberg Toy Fair (Spielwarenmesse), one of the world’s largest international toy trade fairs. The large number of entries that year made the competition particularly intense.
The judges had to select the year’s most outstanding, well-rounded toys from 635 entries submitted by 361 companies. The categories covered young children (0-3 years), school-age children (6-10 years), teenagers and adults (10 years and up), and preschoolers (3-6 years). Just 12 toys were shortlisted for the final judging round.
Hape’s four-level mining train set, "Mighty Mountain Mine," was nominated and went on to win the top gold-level award in the preschool toy category (3-6 years). Accepting the award, Hape founder and CEO Handstein said, "Mighty Mountain Mine is more than just an excellent toy to play with. Its fun and mechanisms support learning and meet the needs of both children and parents in many ways."
