Hape’s number one priority is children’s safety

As a children’s toy manufacturer, Hape puts every child’s best interests first and makes safety its leading consideration.

All our products must comply with our zero-tolerance policy, which allows no safety defects whatsoever. They must therefore undergo rigorous quality control and safety testing before reaching the market.

We always strive for the best

Hape’s quality control begins with supplier selection, material choices and repeated inspections. Strict standards and procedures ensure that all products meet—and often exceed—the relevant standards.

As parents, alongside choosing brands that take testing seriously, always check the recommended age on the box, because toys with small parts can pose a choking hazard to young children (read more: How to Buy Safe Toys – AAP). Also make sure you make your home safe for your little one.

Our product testing facility in China has modern laboratory testing equipment. Our products undergo a variety of tests and inspections, including torque, tension, compression, impact and drop testing, along with many other comprehensive checks.

In addition to Hape’s internal testing, we work with several internationally recognized independent external testing laboratories, such as SGS and TÜV Rheinland, to conduct product safety testing that meets the needs of customers worldwide. All products comply with US, European, Chinese and international safety standards.

At Hape, we seek out other sustainable materials, such as rice composites, wood-flour blends and FASAL. These materials are suitable for children because they are non-toxic and safe. In 2021, Hape took another step toward sustainability by introducing cork composites and natural rubber into its range of product materials. Both cork and natural rubber are naturally renewable materials that can be harvested without cutting down trees.

Delivering quality, safe products is an essential part of building customer trust. As a socially responsible company, our commitment to consumers and wider society is: 'Hape is committed to continuing its zero-tolerance policy, allowing no safety defects whatsoever, and to meeting high quality-testing standards to guarantee the safety and health of the families who buy and play with our toys.'

If you are looking for an excellent developmental toy, Hape is a good choice, with a wide range of wooden toys that support children’s development at every age. Browse all Hape toys in the store.

Thoughtfully designed around children’s learning, these toys help them practice important skills such as looking, listening, observing, fine motor skills, problem-solving, imagination and creativity. They also encourage integrated academic learning through STEAM.

With durable designs and materials, these toys focus on supporting children’s development while making their safety a priority. They use non-toxic paints and FSC-certified wood, offering a long service life while being environmentally friendly.

Hape is a global wooden toy brand that has won toy awards across multiple competitions, with production systems based on international standards such as ICTI, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.

What matters most is sharing happy moments as a family, because wherever there is love, there is a complete home.
